Benevolent world market with invisible hand. Sometimes hand needs backing of bombs, soldiers and bailouts to open up the market fully. See IMF, World Bank, God, profit.
I love photojournalism because a picture really does say a thousand words. A well-timed snapshot, in capturing a single instant, can convey a message, depict a moment more eloquently and completely than an entire book. There is no lying in photography, none of the bias inevitable in typing up an article. A face, a landscape, an expression: all tell stories, and all compel the viewer to confront and accept reality. That’s a rare thing in journalism. It’s special. And a good photograph is poetry.

I am a photojournalism student. I worry about what will be next. Do I have a future and will it be there when I step outside college doors into the real world. I love photojournalism. It made me see the world what it is truly is and be in places that people could only imagine. Photography help me become a better person and I learned to not be afraid. We deserve more what we get paid to do. Be there when the actions happens and carry a crap ton of photography gear. I don’t like working 9-5 p.m. and my cubicle is the world.
I am a photojournalist.
The Republican-led House has passed a defense spending bill Thursday with a number of controversial provisions. If signed into law, the bill would prohibit any non-U.S. citizen suspected of terrorism from receiving a federal trial regardless of where they were arrested. In addition, the bill expands the president’s ability to wage an endless worldwide war against terrorism suspects and against nations suspected of supporting them even when there is no connection to the Sept. 11 attacks. Laura Murphy of the American Civil Liberties Union criticized the bill, saying, “A new authorization of worldwide war will mean unrestricted powers to use the military at home and abroad.”

What does it say about us when you can tell me you’re fucking her, but not that you’re in love with her? When did sex get easier to swallow than love?
Wait. Pretend I phrased that differently.
But I can still ask the question. Trust me with your body, and know I won’t judge, but keep your heart closed to me because, because why?
I think you already know the answer to this question. It started when we as North Americans were given the option of safe methods of birth control paired with the sexual revolution, which, in my humble opinion is still going on. We still shriek at the front cover of a magazine with a nude woman but in Germany it’s not a big deal. North Americans are some of the most sexually oppressed and liberated people at the same time. I may have gone off on a tangent here.
Maybe, to add on to the last commenter, sex has become more of a mechanical act and love/attachment are more valuable. As North Americans, we love talking about our feelings, and reflecting. This is probably why we hold onto emotions like love and fling our bodies around like it’s almost second nature.
