Benevolent world market with invisible hand. Sometimes hand needs backing of bombs, soldiers and bailouts to open up the market fully. See IMF, World Bank, God, profit.
It’s not Facebook-stalking if I’m getting paid to do it, right?...

I love photojournalism because a picture really does say a thousand words. A well-timed snapshot, in capturing a single instant, can convey a message, depict a moment more eloquently and completely than an entire book. There is no lying in photography, none of the bias inevitable in typing up an article. A face, a landscape, an expression: all tell stories, and all compel the viewer to confront...

House Passes Bill Authorizing an Endless... →
The Republican-led House has passed a defense spending bill Thursday with a number of controversial provisions. If signed into law, the bill would prohibit any non-U.S. citizen suspected of terrorism from receiving a federal trial regardless of where they were arrested. In addition, the bill expands the president’s ability to wage an endless worldwide war against terrorism suspects and against...

“What would it mean to come to terms with the fact that there are things which happen in front of cameras that are not simply true or false, not simply representations and references, but rather opportunities, events, performances, things that are done and done for the camera, which come into a space beyond truth and falsity that is created in view of mediation and transmission?” -...
Showtime's Lesbian 'L Word' is Back... →
lorenrochelle:
Showtime is bringing back “The L Word” as a reality series following six L.A. lesbians as they go about their lives.
Another greenlight for more reality television… More stardom hopefuls casted exploiting themselves for 6 months of fame.

In Japanese, there are two words, Ai (愛) and Koi (恋). Both translates into ‘love’. Koi, is often used for a one way love, and Ai, is used for true love, but before the kanji for Ai was used for ‘love’, was used synonomysly with the word ‘pain’. Both mean one thing, but both Kanji’s are quite sad. ‘Love’ is a confusing thing.

book quotes
“a long time ago, man would listen in amazement to the sound of regular beats in his chest, never suspecting what they were. He was unable to identify himself with so alien and unfamiliar an object as the body. the body was a cage, and inside that cage was something that looked, listened, feared, thought, and marveled; that something, that remainder left over after the body had been...
