I love photojournalism because a picture really does say a thousand words. A well-timed snapshot, in capturing a single instant, can convey a message, depict a moment more eloquently and completely than an entire book. There is no lying in photography, none of the bias inevitable in typing up an article. A face, a landscape, an expression: all tell stories, and all compel the viewer to confront and accept reality. That’s a rare thing in journalism. It’s special. And a good photograph is poetry.
